The String Cheese Incident continued their fall tour at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Saturday night. The band welcomed percussionist Sikiru Adepoju to close out the first frame and Talking Heads guitarist Jerry Harrison to kick off the second set.
SCI got things underway with “You’ve Got The World” before “Song In My Head” led into “Queen Chinee Jam,” “Sometimes A River,” “Pirates, Stop Drop Roll” and “Into The Blue.” The band closed out the first set with “Rivertrance” featuring Sikiru Adepoju on talking drum.
Cheese got the second set going with the Grateful Dead’s “I Need A Miracle,” which the band dedicated to Grateful Dead lyricist John Perry Barlow and welcomed Jerry Harrison on guitar. “Howard” came next with lyrics modified to “Howee” in honor of Howee Barban. “Big Shoes” then segued into “Tinder Box” ahead of a cover of Tom Petty’s “The Woods.” Next up, “Sirens” led into “This Must Be the Place,” “I Know You Rider” and Bob Marley’s “Stir It Up” before returning to “Rider” to close out the second set.
SCI retook the stage for an encore of “Beautiful.” Check out video of “I Need A Miracle” captured by PhatBeats 420 below:
