Garcia used the guitar both on stage and during recording sessions, according to a letter of authenticity provided by Jerry’s guitar tech, Steve Parish. The axe features Travis Bean’s trademark aluminum neck and employs an onboard effects loop. Parish states in his letter that the TB500 was Garcia’s third most-used guitar behind “Tiger” and “Wolf.” A sticker laid on the guitar reads “Ass, Grass or Gas/Nobody Rides For Free.” Julian’s claims the guitar was used at “approximately 69 concerts in late 1977 alone, including: approximately 35 Grateful Dead concerts, a benefit for Greenpeace, and as he toured around the country with the Jerry Garcia Band.”
The estimate for how much the guitar will bring in? A whopping $150,000 -$200,000. If this happens to be within your price range, head over to Julien’s to find out how to bid.
