Jerry Douglas shared the video for his “musical puzzle” composition “The Fifth Season.” The 10-minute concerto appears on the dobro virtuoso’s 2024 album, The Set.
The Set arrived on September 20 via Nolivian Records. Douglas’s first solo album in seven years features five new songs and six reimagined cuts, including a cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

“I’ve been producing records for a long time, so I really, really put on that hat for this record,” Douglas said of The Set. “Usually, I like instrumentalists to have free rein in whatever they do. It’s the way they speak. If anybody had an idea, we chased it down to the end. I feel like it’s really finished. I’m really happy with the outcome of this whole experience.”
The new video for “The Fifth Season” sees Douglas unraveling a “musical puzzle” with his band: Daniel Kimbro on bass, Christian Sedelmyer on fiddle and Mike Seal on guitar. The visual was shot on Nashville’s historic Music Row by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard for Neighborhoods Apart.
