This Friday, Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra will bring their fall tour to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts. DSO guitarist Jeff Mattson will use Jerry Garcia’s famed Wolf guitar, which was built by luthier Doug Irwin, throughout the night.

Dark Star Orchestra are expected to perform “an original setlist with Wolf in mind” on Friday in Lowell. Garcia first used Wolf on September 5, 1973 as part of a Garcia & Saunders gig at a private party held for the Hell’s Angels. The guitar was Jerry’s main axe through the first half of 1975 and then again full-time in the fall of 1977 through the summer of 1979. Author Brian Halligan bought the guitar in 2017 and has lent out Wolf to a number of jam scene musicians since. In other DSO news, the band recently shared pro-shot video of “Samson And Delilah” featuring vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux from their Red Rocks debut on July 8, 2018:
