Jeff Ament Provides Update On New Pearl Jam Album

Seattle rockers Pearl Jam unveiled the new single “Can’t Deny Me” back in March along with word the song would appear on a forthcoming studio album. The announcement didn’t mention a release date, but it’s likely fans will have to wait until next year for the 11th Pearl Jam studio LP. Bassist Jeff Ament revealed the news during an appearance on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast.

Jeff spoke with host Kyle Meredith about his new Ament album Heaven & Hell, the forthcoming Pearl Jam album, the possibility of Pearl Jam 30th Anniversary Shows and more. Meredith made reference to the release period for the new Pearl Jam album by asking, “Is it safe to assume that’s a 2019 thing?” Ament explained PJ isn’t finished recording the LP yet, “2019 is probably safe to say, but I don’t know. We just need a good six to eight weeks carved out where we’re just in recording all these ideas we have.” Getting in the way is the band’s extensive touring plans over the next few months.

Another topic Kyle brought up is the potential of Pearl Jam celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2021. “I probably won’t be the one leading the charge for that, because I wasn’t really that into doing the 20th anniversary,” the bassist told Meredith. “I always feel like there’s danger in looking back. I always want to make new music and play more new shows and play new places, but I’m sure somebody will throw three X’s or 3-0 on a t-shirt.”
