Jay Blakesberg Announces June 2021 Slideshow/Storytelling Events

Renowned photographer Jay Blakesberg will host Between The Dark And Light: The Grateful Dead Photography Of Jay Blakesberg slideshow/storytelling events at five East Coast cities early next month. Jay will present stories and images from his 40+ year career capturing the Grateful Dead and related bands at venues in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Virginia between June 2 – 9.

Blakesberg initially shot the Dead at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey in 1978 after his dad gifted him an old Pentax camera. Thus kicked off a relationship that still continues and is documented in his 90-minute presentations. “This engaging, fast moving presentation grants the audience an ‘all access’ pass to his many years photographing the band, first as a fan, and than as a journalist, and ultimately as an insider working for the band,” as per a press release.

Word Barn in Exeter, New Hampshire will host Between The Dark & Light on Wednesday, June 2. Blakesberg then heads to The Warehouse (FTC) in Fairfield, Connecticut on Friday, June 4 and the Ardmore Music Hall near Philadelphia on Sunday, June 6. Jay will also host Between The Dark & Light in Virginia at the Richmond Music Hall in Richmond on Tuesday, June 8 and Alexandria’s The Birchmere on Wednesday, June 9.

“After this long hard year of Covid, I can’t wait to get out there and share these stories and images with my like-minded friends and freaks, it is time to re-connect and prepare for full re-entry,” noted Blakesberg.
