Watch Jason Isbell Reunite With Drive-By Truckers On ‘Colbert’

Drive-By Truckers reunited with former member Jason Isbell for a performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Isbell’s first prior-announced appearance with his one-time bandmates in 18 years consisted of DBT’s “Hell No, I Ain’t Happy.”

Isbell joined Drive-By Truckers in 2001 and remained a member of the band through his final show with them in March 2007. Isbell and Drive-By Truckers have performed together in various configurations since his departure – including special trio sets with DBT’s Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood.

Drive-By Truckers recently released an expanded reissued version of their 2003 album, Decoration Day, which was their first with Isbell. The Definitive Decoration Day offered a remixed and remastered version of the original 15-track album, as well as the previously unreleased double live album, Heathens Live at Flicker Bar, Athens, GA – June 20, 2002.

“Although we have always remained friends with Jason, and honestly he and I are closer now than ever, this is our first ‘announced’ appearance together in nearly 20 years,” Hood previously stated. “I consider Decoration Day to be our masterpiece, and he was such an integral part of that album that it’s wonderful that he’s able to join us in celebrating this release. Colbert has always been our favorite, so we are really psyched to be on his show again.”
