Jason Isbell Doesn’t Put Up With Fighting At His Shows

There are many reasons we love Southern rocker Jason Isbell, but the latest reason doesn’t have to do with his music per say. On February 7 at Madison’s Barrymore Theater Isbell and his band were starting up the song “Never Gonna Change” when Jason abruptly stopped the tune short after just a few seconds. What happens next needs to be seen to be believed:

Isbell exclaimed “Hold on a minute” and pointed out a disturbance in the crowd in front of him. “Hey, cut that shit out. You don’t come to a show and fight people. God damn. I don’t give a shit, I’m about to get all y’all thrown out. All of ya. Is it that guy? You! Is it that guy? Somebody come over here and take this man outside. I’ll give you your money back; ain’t nothing you can do about it now. You’re gonna have to go.” The crowd greeted Isbell with applause and the band went back to the start of “Never Gonna Change.”

We’ve had plenty of looks at Jason Isbell as a musician, but this incident gave us a look at the man’s character -and we like what we see.
