Jason Isbell led a cover of The Allman Brothers Band classic “Melissa” on Tuesday’s episode of I So Lounging with Amanda Shires. Isbell was backed by Shires on fiddle and Seth Plemmons on guitar, while Kelly Garcia Plemmons operated the computer and Zeyk (the dog) gave moral support.
Yesterday’s installment began with an improvised ditty in usual I So Lounging fashion. Then, Isbell belted out “Melissa,” a song penned by Gregg Allman that the ABB released on 1972’s Eat A Peach. Shires went on to discuss touring with Gregg Allman and an “incident” that happened at Cracker Barrell while they were on the road. Next, Amanda led the troupe through “I Know What It’s Like” from her 2016 studio album, My Piece Of Land.

Seth Plemmons was put in the spotlight next as he answered a number of questions about his life that Amanda directed his way. Then, Shires called up Macey Taylor, the bassist in her band. He spoke about his “bad toe” and chatted with his friends before the musicians performed a cover of Wet Willie’s “Keep On Smiling.” The episode ended as all I So Lounging episodes end, with a blues jam.
