James Brown Dance Party Adds Early-2019 Dates

A series of all-star James Brown Dance Party performances featuring “the funkiest all-star tribute in show business” have been added for early 2019. Legendary bassist George Porter Jr., famed keyboardist Robert Walter and the Trey Anastasio Band’s Jennifer Hartswick are among those set to participate.

Up first to end 2018 is a Phish After Show at The Cutting Room in New York City on December 29. Fred Thomas of The James Brown Band will be joined by Walter and his Mike Gordon band mate , Snarky Puppy’s Justin Stanton, Ghost-Note’s Sly5thAve, Rubblebucket’s Adam Dotson and core members Chris Rob, Adam Chase and Matthew Chase.

The James Brown Dance Party will start 2019 at Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, Massachusetts on January 26. Chris Rob, Adam Chase and Matthew Chase will be joined by Thomas, Hartswick, Dumpstaphunk’s Alex Wasily, Snarky Puppy’s Mike Maher, Daniel Casares of The New Mastersounds’ horn section, TAUK’s Alric Carter and Nate Edgar of The Nth Power.

A pair of West Coast dates will take place at Echoplex in Los Angeles on February 1 and Mezzanine in San Francisco on February 2. Jerry Poindexter of The James Brown Band is aboard with George Porter Jr., Jennifer Hartswick, Daniel Casares, Chris Rob, Marcus Machado, Adam Chase and the Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman.
