Jake Peavy Helping To Throw Free Music Festival This Weekend

The Ten Sixty Five music festival will feature many bands on two stages in downtown Mobile, Alabama between Friday (September 30) and Sunday (October 2). Counting Crows, Dirty Heads, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Moon Taxi and Blind Melon are just a few of the acts scheduled to play this year’s event. San Francisco Giants pitcher Jake Peavy helped create the festival last year, when the previous festival went bankrupt weeks before it was scheduled to take place.

Helping to fund this festival in his hometown is just one of the ways Peavy has given back through music in 2016. Additionally, Peavy recently played a charity event with Phil Lesh in San Francisco, will raise funds for the Rex Foundation through an Omaze experience this weekend and hosts an annual concert in Phoenix during Spring Training to benefit veterans. The list goes on and on. Jake’s generous nature explains why the Giants nominated him for the Roberto Clemente Award, which is given annually to the MLB player who “best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual’s contribution to his team.”

Fans can help select the winner of the award by posting any nominee’s voting hashtags to Twitter and MLB and club Facebook pages. Jake’s hashtag is #VotePeavy. Watch a video showing why Peavy is deserving of the award from the Jake Peavy Foundation:
