Bruce Hornsby sat in with Jackson Browne on Tuesday night in Richmond, Virginia. Hornsby came out during the evening’s first set and reemerged again for the encore at the Altria Theater.
Hornsby first appeared halfway through the first set to accompany Browne and his band on the title track to Browne’s 1993 album, I’m Alive. Hornsby played dulcimer on what was the tour debut of “I’m Alive.”
Hornsby returned for the first encore, this time playing piano on “Take It Easy.” The guest pianist stuck around for a subsequent performance of “Our Lady Of The Well.” The two songs, the former co-written by Browne and Glenn Frey of the Eagles, are the first two tracks on Browne’s 1973 sophomore LP, For Everyman.
Browne followed Tuesday’s collaborative concert with a show on Wednesday at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. Hornsby begins a Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers tour on August 5.
