Last week, Pearl Jam (or more accurately Eddie Vedder) debuted a cover of “We’re Going To Be Friends” by Jack White at their first of two “Home Shows” in Seattle. White Stripes frontman Jack White returned the favor during a recent tour stop at Seattle’s WaMu Theater.
White and his band worked through a cover of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter” towards the middle of their 17-song main set in Seattle on Monday night. Jack, drummer Carla Azar, keyboardists Quincy McCrary and Neal Evans and bassist Dominic Davis put their own spin on the song from Pearl Jam’s 1993 album Vs. While at first White started on acoustic, he eventually moved over to electric guitar.
The exchange of covers came after Jack White sat-in with Pearl Jam on Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” at the NOS Alive Festival in Lisbon, Portugal last month. While phones are banned at Jack White concerts, an audio recording of “Daughter” from Monday night has surfaced.
