Former STS9 bassist David “Murph” Murphy will return to the stage in January, joining the J. WAIL Live Band for a Northeast run. The latest all-star J. Wail Live Band lineup hits stages in Portland (Maine), Boston and Brooklyn from January 8 – 10, 2025.

Drummer Michael Travis (The String Cheese Incident), vocalist Shira Elias (Cool Cool Cool), keyboardist Scott Hannay (Mihali Band), drummer Sam Crespo (Space Bacon) and multi-instrumentalist Michael Bafundo (West End Blend) will perform along with J. WAIL and “Murph” during the excursion. J. WAIL is known for his inventive mix of livetronica, funk and jam music as well as his inclination to perform with different musicians to provide one-of-a-kind experiences.

The J. WAIL Live Band will kick off the run on January 8 at the Portland House of Music. Boston’s Sonia will then host the ensemble on January 9 before the septet performs at The Sultan Room in Brooklyn on January 10.

“Murph” co-founded STS9 and was instrumental in shaping the band’s sound. The bassist took an extended break from touring following his departure from Tribe.

Tickets for all three of the newly announced J. WAIL Live Band shows are on sale now. A portion of ticket sales from the Brooklyn and Boston shows will be donated to hurricane relief efforts in Western North Carolina.
