All has been quiet from the J Roddy Walston and the Business for years, but that changes today. The Richmond rockers have unveiled their first single since 2013’s Essential Tremors. While a release date and title of a forthcoming record have yet to be revealed, today Billboard premiered “The Wanting.”
“I personally fell in love with writing music again,” Walston explained in a statement. “It took awhile but once I realized I had room to try things that I had never tried before, I became addicted to the process.” J. Roddy said “The Wanting” details the relationship of an estranged father and son: “Even though it is a dark song with a brutal ending, I find hope and beauty in the idea of these two people that had a shared sense of both regret and longing for each other.”
The band recorded the new LP at their own Richmond recording studio with co-producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty). Look for J. Roddy Walston & The Business’s new album to come out this fall with U.S. dates to be revealed soon.
