Iron & Wine Announces New EP ‘Weed Garden’ & Shares Single

While it took four years between Iron & Wine studio albums fans of Sam Beam’s brand of folk-rock won’t have to wait that long again for his next release. On August 31, the singer-songwriter will put out Weed Garden a new six-song EP via Sub Pop Records.
Earlier this year Beam along with Joe Adamik, Jim Becker, Rob Burger and Teddy Rankin-Parker, headed to Wilco’s Chicago studio The Loft to record a batch of songs that were originally part of the material for his last studio effort Beast Epic but were left unfished. Among the tunes set to appear on the release is “Waves of Galveston.” The much-beloved fan-favorite was originally featured online for The Onion’s AV Club “State Songs” series back in 2013.
Iron & Wine returns to the road this fall with a tour-opening gig at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland in Kansas City, Missouri. Listen to the EP’s lead single “What Hurts Worse” below:
