The Infamous Stringdusters banjoist Chris Pandolfi hosts the latest podcast from Osiris, Inside The Musician’s Brain With Chris Pandolfi. The first two episodes of the podcast have been shared with Greensky Bluegrass mandolinist Paul Hoffman appearing in Episode One and guitarist Billy Strings appearing in Episode Two.

Pandolfi explores the creative process in each installment of Inside The Musician’s Brain. Chris starts by discussing his own career and the world of The Infamous Stringdusters before speaking with other musicians. “My life in music started with a deep obsession with playing and performing, but has branched out into so many other areas and connected me with many amazing, influential artists,” Pandolfi explained in a statement. “As everything has progressed, I’ve looked for a more meaningful, consistent platform to share my insights as a performer, business owner and member of a thriving music community, as well as those of other people in my position. Inside the Musician’s Brain has been an amazing outlet to share all of this with the world, and help listeners understand what’s behind the music that inspires them.”

Chris begins the first episode by talking about his early days as a musician and gaining inspiration to buy a banjo after catching Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in concert. He then explains how he writes setlists for The Infamous Stringdusters’ shows. Next, Pandolfi welcomes Hoffman to discuss the start of his career, the formation of Greensky Bluegrass, how GSBG’s music differs from other acts, the growth of the band’s fanbase and many other topics.

Pandolfi opens the second episode by discussing his long friendship and musical relationship with Billy Strings. The banjoist then reveals his approach to improvisation and the cues his band mates provide to move jams along. He also explains the ‘Dusters’ process for each day, including a debrief that takes place after each show. The second portion of the episode features Strings. Billy speaks about his formative years, the evolution of bluegrass, a lesson learned from Sam Bush and more.
