The Infamous Stringdusters Perform Grateful Dead Set In Greenville

The Infamous Stringdusters had a special treat in store for those attending Wednesday’s show at The State Theatre in Greenville, North Carolina. Last night’s concert featured a “Dead Set” chock full of songs from the Grateful Dead‘s live repertoire.

For the opener, The Infamous Stringdusters went with the classic “It’ll Be Alright” and then played “Let Me Know” off 2017’s Laws Of Gravity. Next up was “Long Time Going” from the band’s 2019 studio album, Rise Sun. The jamgrass quintet continued with their first cover of the night — a take on The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” Rise Sun’s “Truth & Love” followed along with a take on Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Turn On Your Lovelight” that foreshadowed what laid ahead. A run of originals “Once You’re Gone,” “Get It While You Can” and “Y2K” brought the frame to a close.

The Infamous Stringdusters kicked off the “Dead Set” with “Big River,” a Johnny Cash cover the Grateful Dead performed nearly 200 times between 1971 and 1995. “Scarlet Begonias” came next before a pairing of “Mr. Charlie” and “He’s Gone.” The tribute to the Grateful Dead rolled on with “Brown Eyed Women” and “Terrapin Station.” From there, The ‘Dusters used “Rosalee McFall” to lead into a set-closing rendition of “Tennessee Jed.” Last night’s show concluded with a “Rise Sun” encore.
