Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd will discuss his Phish fandom and spin tracks on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio channel. Boyd’s appearance on Phish Radio’s “Crowd Control” premieres tomorrow, Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
“Bet you didn’t think that any of us from our band would be massive Phish fans, but it’s true,” Boyd said in a preview. “Actually, our band, especially the early days of our band, we were hugely influenced by Phish. I’ve been to more Phish concerts than I can actually count. I remember many of them, and then there are parts of them that are a little patchy, like some weird blissful dream.”

“We never wanted to be Phish necessarily because I think we were appreciating them for what they were. We wanted to be what we were going to be, but we didn’t really know what that was, so we would just sort of write these songs, and they came out a lot more kind of heavy sounding,” Brandon told Jambands.com in a 2014 interview. “You wouldn’t know we were listening to Phish, but we were also listening to Primus and all these different other bands that we were kind of obsessed with around that time. But it goes without saying I’m definitely a big fan of that band.”
