THE GRIND CAN BE ALL SORTS OF THINGS

Pep Love
The grind. It’s shorthand for the workaday slog, the “just getting through to get it done” feel too many of us labor under. By Wednesday of most weeks a whole bunch of folks are starting to really feel the grind of things. And for them we have Alice In Chains‘s strangely uplifting paean to rest where one’s teeth don’t grind. It’s like a lite-exorcism with electric guitars. And for those that need a lil’ more hump in their ruminatin’, we’ve got Pep Love from Oakland’s Hiero crew.

But, grind can also have delectable connotations. Often no words are needed to convey the feeling that some serious grindin’ is going on, and that’s where Ed Littman‘s nasty slow blues “Grind It” comes in. Once warmed up you’ll be ready for the undulating Afro-sexy hip sway of Jimi Tenor & Kabu Kabu‘s “Grind!”
