Hozier offered a set at the Newport Folk Festival on Friday at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. The guitarist welcomed Joan Baez, Mavis Staples, Madison Cunningham, Nathaniel Rateliff and more for a rendition of The Band classic, “The Weight.”
Beloved sing-along song “The Weight” arrived as the penultimate song of Hozier’s set. Mavis handled the first verse originally sung by her late friend Levon Helm. Madison Cunningham sang the second verse while Joan Baez took the third with some help from Mavis.
