Hozier stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Thursday to perform “Too Sweet” on television for the first time. The song featured on the Irish singer-songwriter’s recently released Unheard EP scored Hozier his first No. 1 hit in America.

Hozier’s visit to the Ed Sullivan Theater yesterday came amid his four concerts with Allison Russell at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. The musician recently became the first single artist to sell out a multi-night run at the 101-year-old tennis stadium.

“Too Sweet” climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April. Hozier came close to the feat over a decade earlier when “Take Me To Church” peaked at No. 2. Sinead O’Connor was the last Irish artist with a chart-topping hit in the U.S. 34 years prior.

Hozier was joined by his full band for the “Too Sweet” performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The 34-year-old musician belted out the playful song with its lyrics of taking his whiskey neat and coffee in bed.

Hozier returns to Forest Hills Stadium tonight and tomorrow to close out his run. After a series of European festival appearances, he’ll be back in North America in late July.
