Watch The Hold Steady Deliver Enthusiastic ‘Sideways Skull’ On ‘Late Night’
The song is featured on the band’s new album, The Price Of Progress.
The Hold Steady celebrated the recent release of their The Price Of Progress album by appearing on Wednesday’s episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers. The group performed the LP’s hard-hitting lead single, “Sideways Skull,” at 30 Rock’s Studio 8G.
“Sideways Skull is a rocking song about rock and rollers,” frontman Craig Finn explained in a press release announcing The Price Of Progress. “In this case, they’ve been taken out of the game for a bit of rest, but still keep their dreams alive as they discuss past glories. We loved the big sound of this when Tad Kubler brought it into the band, and the studio performance of it felt especially joyful.”
The Hold Steady — Finn, Kubler, Steve Selvidge, Bobby Drake, Franz Nicolay and Galen Polivka — dressed to impress as they romped through the song that includes the album’s title within its lyrics.
