Last night, Hilary Duff made the most of her The Tonight Show debut. Duff performed a song from her new album, sat for a lengthy chat with Jimmy Fallon and joined the host for a “Sip and Sing” challenge.
The pop star visited 30 Rock to promote her first new album in a decade, Luck… Or Something, which arrived last month. Duff and her live band served up the television debut of the record’s “Roommates” in front of a set made up like a bedroom.
Hilary Duff co-wrote “Roommates” with Brian Phillips and her husband, Matthew Koma. Phillips and Koma produced the 11-track LP, which was recorded at Local Weather in Southern California.
Duff’s wide-ranging chat with Jimmy Fallon covered many topics, including her return to the spotlight, her upcoming Lucky Me Tour and life as a child star on Lizzie McGuire. She also taught the host her “With Love” dance.
Jimmy Fallon called Lizzie McGuire one of his favorite television shows. The star of the Disney Channel series said she was infatuated with the Olsen Twins at the time. Duff also took questions from audience members and revealed actor Chad Michael Murray was her favorite on-screen love interest.
The “Sip and Sing” challenge found Duff taking turns with Fallon singing random songs with a mouthful of water while the other tries to guess what tune they’re singing. The pair gave songs by Harry Styles, Alanis Morissette, Brendan Boone, Aretha Franklin and A-Ha a go.
