The 2017 installment of the High Sierra Music Festival will take place June 29 – July 2 at Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds in Quincy, California. High Sierra organizers are offering emerging artists the chance to enter to win the opportunity to play the event’s Vaudeville Stage at this year’s festival.
Solo artists and bands are invited to enter any time from now until 12 a.m. PT on May 1 by following the instructions here. The act that wins High Sierra’s first ever band contest will receive a 45-minute set to open the action on the Vaudeville Stage on Sunday, July 2. In addition to the set, winners will get 4-day Festival Passes for performing band members, special promotion as the winner including their name on 2017 festival billing and commemorative poster as well as $500 compensation. Full rules and regulations can be found via the festival’s website.
“One of the things High Sierra is known for is its knack for exposing new talent that go on to do great things” said the festival’s Director of Marketing & Special Programs, Paige Clem in a statement. “Many musicians understandably hope to have a chance to get in front of the receptive music lovers that make up the High Sierra Community and we’re excited to have a way to make that happen.”
Once the entry period finishes, High Sierra organizers will whittle all entries down to the top five finalists at their discretion. Fans will then be able to vote on videos posted on the festival’s social pages between May 4 and May 10. Whichever act has the video with the most collective post likes on the festival’s social pages will be declared the winner.
High Sierra ’17’s lineup includes two sets from the Trey Anastasio Band plus performances from Ween, STS9, Gov’t Mule, Andrew Bird, Snarky Puppy, Galactic, Mike Gordon, The Greyboy Allstars, Hard Working Americans, Deer Tick, BoomBox, The Travelin’ McCourys and dozens more. Tickets are on sale now here.
