Hermanos Gutiérrez spent last fall supporting Leon Bridges on the soul singer’s Leon Tour of North America. Bridges repaid the favor by lending voice to the duo’s new single, “Elegantly Wasted,” which arrived today through Easy Eye Sound.
“Elegantly Wasted” is the duo’s first new single and music video of 2025. Additionally, the song marks Hermanos Gutiérrez’s first-ever song to feature English-language vocals.
Hermanos Gutiérrez — Ecuadorian brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez — built upon their distinctive sound with Bridges’ intimate rasp. The scintillating “Elegantly Wasted” also features Dan Auerbach on bass and additional guitar, Jeffrey Clemens on drums and percussion, Mike Rojas on keyboards and Sam Bacco on percussion.

The song was recorded at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studios in Nashville. Hermanos Gutiérrez shared the following about the genesis of “Elegantly Wasted”:
“We’ve always been fans of Leon’s style and his way of approaching music. When we were in Nashville together last November, we had a window of maybe four hours before our show at the Ryman that night, but managed to finish a song we’d been working on for months. Leon showed up, and he heard the track for the first time at the studio together with Dan Auerbach, the whole team of Easy Eye Sound and Leon’s crew. He took a microphone, and he just started to sing a melody over it. It sounded like an angel. We all expected him to crush it with his first note, and he did. And he wasn’t even singing lyrics; he was just singing whatever felt natural. It was such an incredible moment, and then he got together with Dan, and they wrote the lyrics.
“This is the product of being on tour together for seven weeks. Touring is fun, but sometimes it’s like you’re on a nonstop journey. You can feel that in the music and in the sound. There’s something really happy, but also a bit nostalgic.”
Hermanos Gutiérrez and Leon Bridges gathered at Dallas’ Texas Theatre to film the “Elegantly Wasted” video. The historic theater is best known for the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald. Watch the visual below:
Leon Bridges and Hermanos Gutiérrez will each hit the road this fall. Bridges is teaming with Charley Crockett for The Crooner & The Cowboy Tour, while the duo returns to the U.S. to play some of their biggest headlining shows yet.
