Heavens To Betsy Announces U.S. Tour After Reuniting For 1st Show In 32 Years

Following a sold out reunion show in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, Heavens To Betsy announced their first tour in 32 years. The band led by Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney) and will perform on both coasts and points between this fall.

A key group coming out of the Evergreen, Washington punk scene alongside bands like Bikini Kill and Bratmobile, Heavens To Betsy made their debut performance at the International Pop Underground convention’s Girl Night in front of an audience of musicians they looked up to.

“I don’t think we had any material written,” Corin recalled. “But I was like, ‘Yeah, we’ll do that’ with all the confidence in the world. Then we wrote two songs and played them at that convention, and it was a really big deal, because all of our musical heroes were in the audience that night: Fugazi, Bikini Hill, Bratmobile, Calamity Jane. We were terrified, but they were so supportive. All of them told us how much they loved the band that first night. It was like a Cinderella story.”

Heavens to Betsy released their sole LP, Calculated, in 1994 via Kill Rock Stars. While Tucker and Sawyer went on to have success in other bands, Heavens To Betsy is back and will kick off their newly announced fall tour on October 19 in San Francisco.

The band will also hit Portland (Oregon), Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, the Los Angeles area, Chicago and Athens (Georgia). Heavens To Betsy wrap the tour on November 22 in Durham, North Carolina.
