Head For The Hills Announce Upcoming Release Of New Studio Album

Colorado jamgrass act Head for the Hills will release Potions And Poisons, their fourth studio album of original music, on May 12. The quartet has announced a PledgeMusic campaign that includes many options with each pre-order receiving an instant download of “Floodwaters” from the new LP.

Head For The Hills recorded Potions And Poisons at home in Colorado with the band’s go-to engineer, Aaron Youngberg. The record features appearances from Bonnie Paine (Elephant Revival) on vocals and washboard, Erin Youngberg (Uncle Earl, FY5) on vocals and a lush string section. Potions And Poisons contains ten new originals and is said to be “the most Head For The Hills record yet.”

Potions and Poisons marks a huge step forward and a new chapter for Head for the Hills. We took a look at what kind of music we really wanted to make, and the result is our most song-centric piece of work yet. We just had so much fun writing and recording these tunes, we’d like to think that translates through the album,” said H4TH’s Joe Lessard. “These songs reflect a tumultuous, changing nation and world, and though not all of them are heavy, we weren’t afraid to tackle subjects like gun violence and corporate greed here. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of fun-loving bluegrass tunes on the record too, there’s a little something for everyone on this one. These are simply the best songs we’ve written and it’s beyond exciting to unleash them on the world!”
