Hayley Jane and the Primates announced that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus. The group confirmed that they will finish out their existing plans for 2019, which include a series of club dates in the spring and a number of festival appearances throughout the summer.

The Boston-based five-piece announced the news via a heartfelt Facebook post. In the post, the group thanked fans for their “continued support and understanding during this time of transition” and expressed excitement about their upcoming shows before the start of their hiatus at the end of the summer. The group wrote:

We have made the difficult decision to go on an indefinite hiatus at the end of the summer. This band has been a joy for all involved. It has also seen it’s fair share of speed bumps and difficulties as all bands do. We have decided, as a group, that it’s time for us to take a real break and turn our focus to other things in our lives that require more attention. There’s no way to truly express what your love, support, and loyalty have meant to us through the years and we hope that you understand that this has not been an easy decision. We know in our hearts, however, that it is the right one. We want to be clear that there is nothing but love and support within our group and we plan on ending this summer with an unbelievable bang. We hope to see you out there in the next few months to celebrate this extraordinary journey we’ve all been on together! We love you so much! And thank you again.

The band fronted by vocalist Hayley Jane first came together in 2007. The Primates currently consists of guitarists Justin Hancock and Greg Smith, bassist Josh Carter and drummer Ryan Clausen. Jane also is one-half of Yes Darling, a collaborative project with singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau.

Before the separation begins officially, the group has plans for two-night runs in March and April in the Northeast, as well as a standalone performance in Peekskill, New York on May 3. The band has also been tapped to perform Greenfield, Massachusetts’ StrangeCreek Campoutin late May and Scranton, Pennsylvania’s The Peach Music Festival in late July.
