Hayes Carll Reimagines Songs On New Album ‘Alone Together Sessions’ & Shares Single

Singer-songwriter Hayes Carll reworked 10 songs from his illustrious career and covered a country classic for a new album entitled Alone Together Sessions. The collection of 11 tracks is set for release on Dualtone September 4. Carll previewed the album by sharing his new rendition of “Down The Road Tonight.”

Carll recorded Alone Together Sessions at his home in Nashville while self-quarantining during the pandemic. Hayes enlisted longtime collaborator Darrell Scott to produce and perform on the album. Scott played a number of instruments for the recordings featured on the LP, which also includes violinist Luke Moeller.

The songs Hayes Carll picked to reimagine span from original releases on his Flowers And Liquor album in 2002 through 2019’s What It Is. Additionally, Carll was joined by his wife, Allison Moorer for a cover of Whitney Shafer and Lefty Frizzell’s “That’s The Way Love Goes.”

“It’s probably good to pause every now and then, to take stock of everything,” Carll said in a statement about Alone Together Sessions. “When you make your living playing out there for people, you’re constantly in motion. That momentum doesn’t leave much time for thinking about what happened, let alone what it all means. How often does someone get to go back in, change the rhythms, turn up guitars, shift the perspective of a lyric or the delivery of a vocal? The more I sang these songs, the more I learned about them.”
