Guitarist Trey Anastasio celebrates his 53rd birthday today. Over the past year Trey and Phish pulled off a successful Summer Tour anchored by the band’s unprecedented Baker’s Dozen residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City (where they’ll return for New Year’s Eve). This year has also seen added attention paid to the guitarist’s solo project the Trey Anastasio Band, which has a Fall Tour on the horizon following an already busy year of touring.

This week’s installment of Saturday Stream features a Spotify Playlist dubbed Treyfluence. The collection showcases original versions of songs that TAB has covered live over the years.

TAB has debuted a number of new covers so far in 2017, often honoring hometown musicians during a tour stop such as Leon Russell’s “Delta Lady” and J.J. Cale’s “Call Me The Breeze” and “Cocaine,” Chuck Berry’s “Back In The U.S.A.” TAB has also offered tributes following the deaths of legendary performers, like “Midnight Rider” for The Allman Brothers Band’s Gregg Allman and “Basically Frightened” for Col. Bruce Hampton. Recent repertoire additions such as Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still,” Hozier’s “Work Song,” Broken Social Scene’s “Cause = Time,” as well as George Harrison’s “What Is Life,” CSN’s “49 Bye-Byes” and Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park” are also included in the playlist.

The Treyfluence Spotify Playlist is rounded out with some reggae in the form of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ “Small Axe” and “Soul Rebel,” Toots & The Maytals’ “Sweet And Dandy” and Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting-In Limbo.” Classic rock is represented by such favorites as Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog,” “Dazed And Confused” and “In The Light,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” The Band’s “It Makes No Difference,” Dire Straits’ “Sultans Of Swing” and Neil Young’s “Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown.” There are also cuts originally performed by such diverse musicians as The Charlie Daniels Band, OutKast, Grateful Dead, Ana Tijoux, Marvin Gaye, Marc Ribot, Willie Nelson, Sly & The Family Stone and more.

The playlist concludes with three bonus tracks featuring TAB covering Gorillaz, Marley and Zeppelin. Listen to the Spotify Playlist below:
