Happy Birthday Neil Young | Harry Hood & Helpless With Phish

Today, rock legend Neil Young celebrates his 69th birthday. Young is still going strong over 50 years into a career in which he’s seen and done nearly all as an uber-successful solo artist and member of Rock Hall acts Buffalo Springfield & Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young as well as leading his own Crazy Horse ensemble. Unbelievably, Neil is still going strong as he’s released two very different albums in 2014.

A few months back we posted a Throwback Thursday column about Phish’s 1998 performances at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California for that year’s Bridge School Benefit Concerts. Unfortunately, one of the highlights of the Vermonters’ sets -a version of “Harry Hood” featuring Neil Young joining in for the end jam -was cut from the footage that was available at the time. Thankfully, the complete “Harry Hood” > “Helpless” segment from October 17, 1998 has surfaced thanks to Music Vault.
