Phish bassist Mike Gordon celebrates his 52nd birthday today. The multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, fashion-forward filmmaker and writer has honed an acutely singular aesthetic that permeates any project in which he’s been involved. Saturday Stream celebrates Mike’s birthday today with a Spotify Playlist that features Cactus outside of his work with Phish, on solo recordings, side-projects and other guest appearances from across his career.

While Phish remains Gordon’s main focus, the bassist currently stays active with his ever solidifying solo group featuring Scott Murawski, Robert Walter, John Kimock and Craig Myers. Mike’s solo albums – 2003’s Inside In, 2008’s The Green Sparrow, 2010’s Moss and 2014’s Overstep – are featured among the 30 tracks making up the playlist.

Solo albums by Gordon’s Phish band mates Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell are also featured as is Mike’s extensive work with Cass McCombs, including last year’s Mangy Love and other releases by the singer-songwriter. Tracks off of collaborative albums Clone from 2002 and its 2005 follow-up Sixty Six Steps, recorded with master picker Leo Kottke can also be found along with cuts from recordings made with keyboardist and regular collaborator Marco Benevento.

The playlist also showcases Mike on tracks with the likes of Little Feat, Gov’t Mule, The Chieftains, Bernie Worrell, Assembly Of Dust, Gordon Stone, Electric Beethoven and more. Stream the set below:
