Today marks Les Claypool’s 52nd birthday as the Primus frontman was born on September 29, 1963. Claypool is one of the most inventive bassists in rock and has participated in a bevy of projects such as Oysterhead, Sausage and Flying Frog Brigade in addition to Primus’s 30+ year career.

In the summer of 2010 Primus embarked on a summer tour featuring drummer Jay Lane. The Bay Area drummer left Furthur to re-join Primus, a group he was a member of for a brief period in the late ’80s. On August 12, 2010 Primus’s summer tour visited the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado for a bill that also included Gogol Bordello. Les & Co. treated fans to a career spanning set that also featured a handful of covers such as Pink Floyd’s “In The Flesh,” The Police’s “Behind My Camel” and a version of “Big In Japan” by Tom Waits performed with Gogol Bordello.
