John Fogerty was born on this day 75 years ago. While he wasn’t actually “Born On The Bayou,” Fogerty was born on The Bay in Berkeley, California on May 28, 1945. He is perhaps most famous as the lead guitarist, lead singer and primary songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival, who clocked an impressive eight gold albums and nine Top 10 singles in their short four-year tenure between 1968 and 1972 making Fogerty one of the greatest singer-songwriter’s of all time.

With such an amazing track record, CCR was naturally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993. Although the induction ceremony was fraught with deep-seated troubles between Fogerty and CCR surviving members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, Fogerty still stepped up with an all-star cast and delivered impassioned performances as he had for years and would continue to do up until the present day.

At the induction ceremony, Fogerty performed the CCR songs “Born On The Bayou,” “Green River” and “Who’ll Stop The Rain.” Robbie Robertson and Bruce Springsteen — a well-known CCR fan — joined the legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist to perform the Creedence classics.
