Happy Birthday David Byrne | Songs of Byrne & Eno

The week of rock birthdays continues after celebrating Steve Winwood and Stevie Wonder, today we honor David Byrne who turns 63. In celebration of the artist, Talking Heads founding frontman and avid bicyclist, we’re looking back at his 2009 Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour.



Byrne and Eno -who tomorrow turns 67 -first collaborated on Talking Heads’ 1978 LP More Songs About Buildings and Food. The pair released a joint album, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, in 1981 and Eno went on to contribute to and produce three Talking Heads albums. Byrne and Eno teamed together in 2008 for their second joint album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. Subsequently, Byrne spearheaded the Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour that featured the former Talking Heads leader along with a cast of musicians and dancers performing songs composed by Eno and Byrne over their long collaborative relationship. A documentary film Ride, Rise, Roar was released featuring performances from the tour, several of which you can watch below:
