Gregg Allman Makes Surprise Appearance At Boca Raton Club

Yesterday marked the second and final stop of this year’s Sunshine Music Festival. The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Indigo Girls and The Revivalists were just a few of the acts who performed at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Florida for Day Two of Sunshine. After the concert at Mizner Park, the nearby Funky Biscuit hosted an After Party featuring Devon Allman, Ben Sparaco and others including members of Gregg Allman’s band performing as Dookey Shoe. In a huge surprise to attendees, Gregg Allman himself turned up to lead Dookey Shoe on a few tunes.

Gregg led Dookey Shoe on two covers that were staples of The Allman Brothers Band’s live sets: “Statesboro Blues” and “Stormy Monday.” Members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band made their way to The Funky Biscuit last night and contributed to Devon Allman’s performance. Our friends at CHeeSeHeaDPRoDuCTioNS were on hand both at Mizner Park and The Funky Biscuit to capture video of the action. So far CHeeSeHeaD’s team has rolled out footage of both performances featuring Gregg Allman leading Dookey Shoe at The Funky Biscuit. Watch “Statesboro Blues” followed by “Stormy Monday”:
