Greensky Bluegrass Recruits Fans For ‘Do It Alone’ Togetherness Video

By Scott Bernstein May 11, 2020 11:50 am PDT

Just about a month ago, Greensky Bluegrass asked fans to film themselves performing a verse, chorus or solo of their song “Do It Alone” as if they were on stage with the group and upload the footage using a form provided by the band. This morning, GSBG unveiled the incredibly cute resulting “togetherness” video.

“Do It Alone” appears on Greensky’s most recent studio album, 2019’s All For Money. “I’d been trying to write a windows-down rock and roll tune for a while,” mandolinist Paul Hoffman shared with NPR’s World Cafe when the song was initially released. “I got out an old guitar of mine, re-strung it, and immediately spit the song out. It’s meant to be an anthem.”

Fans of all ages including a newborn, plenty of kids, couples, families and musicians contributed to the new “Do It Alone” clip. Members of Greensky also added footage of themselves. “Thanks to everyone who participated in this project! We truly couldn’t do it alone,” explained the band in a note posted along with the video. “It brings us joy when the music unites us. We are so grateful that we all have found each other. We love you and we eagerly await being together again.”
