Green Day Gives Fan The Hook After ‘Wonderwall’ Bait-And-Switch

In a legendary move, a fan at a Green Day concert who was brought on stage to play “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” was ushered off stage when he played Oasis’ “Wonderwall” instead. The show took place at Luxexpo Open Air in Luxembourg on Monday.

Both “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” and “Wonderwall” have gained notoriety as overplayed, cliche songs. They are both good songs and were both hits for Green Day and Oasis respectively. To wax subjective for a moment, I’m a fan of both bands, but give me “Wonderwall” all day.

The fan in Luxembourg on Monday apparently felt the same way, or perhaps his allegiances are only to the all mighty troll god because he pulled off one of the greatest musical troll jobs of all time by playing “Wonderwall” when he was brought onstage to play “Time Of Your Life.” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was not amused.

“Oh fuck me,” he exclaimed when he realized he’d been had. Or perhaps it was all an act. Either way, it’s hilarious. Check out clips below:
