Tonight and tomorrow, New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts will round up his Green Is Beautiful Grant Green tribute band for a pair of shows in Denver. Proceeds from the shows will support local non-profit Urban Peak, who provide critical services to youth experiencing homelessness in Denver.
The action starts tonight (Friday, December 1) at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox. Then, Eddie & Co. will honor the legendary Blue Note guitarist at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom on Saturday, December 2. On Friday morning Roberts and some of his band mates including Alan Evans of Soulive started the weekend by serving breakfast to some of Urban Peak’s youth at their Drop-In Center on Stout Street in Denver.
Eddie Roberts’ charitable foundation The Payback is committed to creating direct service opportunities and connecting the benefit shows that Urban Peak does with the people who are receiving the services Urban Peak supports. “Eddie is one of the most driven, caring individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. His dedication to philanthropy goes beyond issuing a check at the end of the day, but he is continually thinking of new ways to give and serve”, said Hilary Gleason, CEO of level the philanthropic consulting firm Roberts has hired to amplify his philanthropic efforts. Hilary Gleason also serves as Head of Partnerships for The Payback.
