The Grateful Dead shared video of “Row Jimmy” from their legendary trip to Egypt in 1978 as the next installment in their All The Years Live video series. The band also released an animated visual for the Dead classic “Ripple” as an end-of-year treat.
The performance of “Row Jimmy” from the Giza Plateau pyramid complex in Egypt took place on September 16, 1978. GD debuted “Row Jimmy” on February 9, 1973, as per The Setlist Program. The band would go on to play the song over 50 times that year and it remained a staple for the rest of the band’s tenure.

“Acknowledged by Jerry as one of his favorite songs to play live,” Dead archivist David Lemieux said in his notes accompanying the video, “Row Jimmy was a complex, interesting, and dynamic song played more than 275 times. This wonderful version from Egypt features some beautiful interplay between everyone in the band.”
The Grateful Dead animated video for American Beauty classic “Ripple” comes from Actuality Films and was animated by T. Nakayama with production by Robert Capria. The Easter egg-laden visual that brings a Tarot card reading to life is a holiday gift to fans and also comes in celebration of American Beauty's 50 year anniversary.
