Grateful Dead Fans Can Get Creative With New ‘From The Mars Hotel’ Interactive Mixing Tool

Grateful Dead’s From The Mars Hotel edition of their interactive Playing In The Band series is up on Dead.net. Arriving as part of the FTMH 50th Anniversary celebrations, fans can jam along with the band on favorites from the 1974 studio album.

Previous Playing In The Band interactive experiences include the inaugural edition featuring GD’s August 27, 1972 Sunshine Daydream concert at Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon. Last year for the Wake Of The Flood 50th Anniversary festivities, the Flood multi-track mixing tool arrived to celebrate the 1973 LP.

Both the Sunshine Daydream and Wake of the Flood versions are still up along with the new Mars Hotel interactive experience. Fans can mute tracks of their respective instruments or vocals to play and sing along with The Dead on “U.S. Blues,” “Scarlet Begonias,” “Ship of Fools” and “Unbroken Chain.”

The mixing board also allows listeners to create their own mixes or isolate channels to zoom in on Jerry Garcia, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Donna Jean Godcahux and Keith Godchaux’s performances.
