The Grateful Dead shared video of “Feel Like A Stranger” as the latest in their All The Years Live series. The performance is from the band’s September 24, 1988 Ranforest Benefit concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Rainforest Benefit capped the Grateful Dead’s nine-night residency at MSG in September 1988. Proceeds from the concert were donated to Greenpeace, Cultural Survival and the Rainforest Action Network.

The show was unique in that the second set featured a slew of guests including Suzanne Vega, Bruce Hornsby, Jack Casady, Daryl Hall, John Oates and more. The guest-filled second frame also saw the only GD covers of Robyn Hitchcock’s “Chinese Bones,” Suzanne Vega’s “Neighborhood Girls,” Daryl Hall’s “Everytime You Go Away” and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.”
The first set was a more straightforward Dead affair with the sole guest being former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor who sat in on “Little Red Rooster” and “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Before the latter, the Dead delivered a tight rendtion of the Bob Weir signature “Feel Like A Stranger,” featuring the great Brent Mydland synth intro and a warbling, auto-wah soaked solo from Jerry Garcia.
