Central Virginia independent radio station WNRN recently broadcast Dead Air 2.4, a livestream special compiling performances of Grateful Dead covers from a variety of artists. Dead Air 2.4 celebrated the station’s 24th anniversary and included contributions from Keller Williams, Kendall Street Company, Erin and the Wildfire and more.

Proceeds from the livestream special help support WNRN. The station is a non-profit and depends on listener and underwriting support for nearly 50% of its operating budget. Past Dead Air specials have been held as live concerts.

Keller Williams played “Scarlet Begonias” for Dead Air 2.4, while Kendall Street Company’s “Friend Of The Devil” was recorded live at WNRN Presents Dead Air 2. Fellow Virginia-based musicians Larry Keel and David Wax Museum contributed “new” versions of “Ramble On Rose” and “Standing On The Moon,” respectively. Erin And The Wildfire went with “Shakedown Street.”
