Grace Bowers had a momentuous moment in a year filled with them on Sunday, when she finally had a chance to meet Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. The summit took place at Gibson Garage in Nashville.

Slash was on hand to perform for a small crowd in support of his recently released album, Orgy of the Damned. The GNR axeman performed an array of classic rock and blues covers at Gibson Garage on Sunday including Elmore James’ “Shake Your Money Maker,” Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Stone Free” and “Oh Well” by Fleetwood Mac.

“Met my guitar hero last night @slash,” Bowers wrote on Instagram on Monday. Grace Bowers, whose post included footage of her laying down a few licks for Gibson’s cameras, was inspired to play guitar by Slash. “I picked up a guitar when I was 9 because I saw Slash on YouTube,” Bowers posted on Instagram when she was announced as an opener for the GNR guitarist’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival stop in Bethelem, Pennsylvania on August 5. “He has been one of my biggest inspirations ever since then.”

Grace Bowers shared more of the story in an interview with Marty Music. “I somehow found the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ music video by Guns N’ Roses. You know, Slash in that, with his Les Paul and everything. He looked cool. I wanted to look cool, like Slash, so I asked my mom for a guitar,” Bowers said as noted by Guitar World.

On August 9, Grace Bowers will release her debut studio album, Wine On Venus. The nine-track collection was produced by Brothers Osborne‘s John Osborne.
