On Monday night, Gov’t Mule began a short tour of Australia. The action started with a show at The Metro Theatre in Sydney featuring as support. Mule and Promise Of The Real play Melbourne tonight and then both bands are slated to perform at the Byron Bay BluesFest. Gov’t Mule’s tour opener ended with an encore that saw the quartet joined by Lukas Nelson.

Warren Haynes & Co. kicked off their lone set in Sydney with “Railroad Boy” off 2009’s By A Thread. Gov’t Mule continued on with longtime staples “Thorazine Shuffle,” “Banks Of The Deep End,” “Time To Confess” and “Devil Likes It Slow.” The four-piece then performed “Dreams & Songs” and “Stone Cold Rage” off their most recent album, Revolution Come…Revolution Go.

Mule’s lengthy set rolled on with Haynes belting out “Soulshine.” The group then worked a bit of “Mountain Jam” into “Game Face.” Next up was a “Beautifully Broken” that included a cover of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “Breakdown” within. Haynes and his mates ended the set with “Mule.” When Gov’t Mule returned to the stage they were joined by Lukas Nelson. Up first for the encore was Neil Young deep cut “Danger Bird.” While Lukas has toured with Neil, Young & POTR have yet to perform “Danger Bird.” Mule hadn’t performed the song since September 17, 2017. Lukas and Warren then shared vocals on “The Shape I’m In” by The Band to bring the evening to a close.
