In 1994, Allman Brothers Band guitarist and bassist Warren Haynes and Allen Woody formed Gov’t Mule with drummer Matt Abts. The band will release an archival album featuring the trio’s first recording sessions from June 1994 this Friday, August 5 on Evil Teen Records. Today, Ultimate Classic Rock has shared a stream of the entire LP:

In other Gov’t Mule news, the current lineup of the band has added a handful of late October and early November dates. Up first is a performance at College Street Music Hall in New Haven on October 28. Then, Mule heads to The Palace Theatre in Albany on October 29 and Montreal’s Corona Theatre on October 30. Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall hosts the quartet on November 1 and there’s also a show at Auditorium Theatre in Rochester on November 5 planned. A pre-sale is scheduled to begin on August 9th at 10 p.m. ET.

Now, as for The Tel-Star Sessions – Gov’t Mule assembled at Tel-Star Studios in Bradenton, Florida with ABB sound engineer Bud Snyder shortly after forming to record what was intended to be their debut album. While Mule instead released their self-titled debut album in 1995 featuring sessions recorded with Michael Barbiero at Woodstock’s Bearsville Recording Studios, the band will finally issue their Tel-Star Sessions for the first time in August. The 10-track effort includes many songs that still remain staples of Gov’t Mule’s live sets till today.

The Tel-Star Sessions is currently available for pre-order digitally, as a single CD and as an 180-gram double-vinyl set.
