Last night, Gov’t Mule‘s first tour of the year continued at Trustees Theater in Savannah, Georgia. Warren Haynes and Co. worked in a The Band cover on the anniversary of Levon Helm’s death and unveiled their first debut of the tour.
The band opened the evening with “Hammer & Nails” before moving on to a string of originals including “Banks Of The Deep End,” “Game Face” and “Devil Likes It Slow.” Warren and the gang then dusted off their cover of the Beatles’ “She Said She Said” complete with a “Tomorrow Never Knows” jam. The set concluded with “About To Rage” and Howlin’ Wolf’s “How Many More Years.”
Gov’t Mule kicked off the second set with “World Boss” > “Inside Outside Woman Blues #3.” From there, the quartet covered The Band’s “Up On Cripple Creek” on the fourth anniversary of Levon Helm’s death. Mule last played the cover as part of its “New Year’s Jam” performance this past New Year’s Eve at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. A “Fallen Down” with a “The Other One” jam led into the live debut of “A Remark You Made” which is listed as a Weather Report cover on Setlist.FM. The second set came to a close with “I’ll Be The One” and “Broke Down On The Brazos.” Gov’t Mule said farewell with a “Soulshine” encore.
