Gov’t Mule are hinting at a tribute to The Beatles’ Abbey Road as the theme for their New Year’s Eve concert on December 31 at The Beacon Theatre in New York City. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Abbey Road’s 1969 release. Mule shared an image on social media featuring four mules walking across the zebra-crossing outside EMI Studios on Abbey Road in homage to the cover art used by The Beatles on Abbey Road.
While Abbey Road was issued by the Fab Four before their final album, Let It Be, most of the latter was recorded ahead of Abbey Road. The 17-track record famously includes a medley of eight songs on side two. Gov’t Mule previously has performed “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window” and “The End” from Abbey Road. The quartet’s New Year’s Run starts on Friday, December 27 at The Met in Philadelphia and continues at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Connecticut on Saturday, December 28 before shows at The Beacon on December 30 and 31.
