Gorillaz Announce North American Tour 2017

On April 28 virtual band Gorillaz will release their long-awaited new studio album, Humanz. While a few North American festival appearances have been revealed in recent weeks, today the band have announced their first North American Tour in seven years.

Masterminds Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett will bring their enigmatic characters and a touring ensemble of flesh and blood musicians to North America play songs from Humanz and past Gorillaz albums. Look for the band to be joined by a lineup of featured artists with the new LP offering such possibilities as Jehnny Beth (Savages), Danny Brown, Benjamin Clementine, De La Soul, D.R.A.M., Peven Everett, Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Zebra Katz, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Vince Staples, Popcaan, Pusha T, Jamie Principle and Kali Uchis, among others.

The tour begins at Chicago’s Northerly Island on July 8. From there, Gorillaz will make July visits Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Quebec City and Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. As reported the group will headline this August’s Outside Lands in San Francisco and then resumes the North American Tour with an appearance at New York City’s Meadows Music & Arts Festival between September 15 and 17. Gorillaz continue the tour with stops in Detroit, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles and Atlanta ahead of a tour-closing appearance at Miami’s III Points Festival between October 13 and 15.
